Long-time hockey writer Stan Fischler interviewed Detroit Red Wings Executive VP Jimmy Devellano for The Hockey News. In the interview, Devellano said he thinks with Wings will improve with the recent signings of Andrew Copp, David Perron and Ben Chiarot, along with the trade for Ville Husso.
However, Devellano doesn't think the Wings are quite ready for the playoffs.
"I suspect that we're getting closer to competing for a playoff spot but now -- in a 32-team NHL -- it's never been so tough with 16 teams not making it. I feel that we're two seasons away but we are getting better."
