 01/05/2020 - 07:34

Detroit Red Wings forward prospect Michael Rasmussen is close to returning to the Grand Rapids Griffins' lineup according to broadcaster Bob Kaser.

Rasmussen, 20, was drafted ninth overall in the 2017 draft. He was overmatched as an NHL rookie last season posting eight goals and 10 assists in 62 games. Rasmussen played almost exclusively on the Wing.

Eligible to play in the American Hockey League this year, Detroit sent Rasmussen to  Grand Rapids, where they said he would learn to play center. He was off to a solid start in Grand Rapids, with two goals five assists in six games. He missed a couple weeks with an injury and posted two assists in four games before he was hurt again. He has not played since Nov. 12.
