Eligible to play in the American Hockey League this year, Detroit sent Rasmussen to Grand Rapids, where they said he would learn to play center. He was off to a solid start in Grand Rapids, with two goals five assists in six games. He missed a couple weeks with an injury and posted two assists in four games before he was hurt again.
