The Grand Rapids Griffins are still playing hockey weeks after the Detroit Red Wings got sick of playing golf, so naturally, hockey fans have questions about which Griffins will make the Wings next year.
Mlive' Red Wings beat writer Ansar Khan answers questions from readers about Griffins Tyler Bertuzzi, Tomas Nosek and Jared Coreau in his "Ask Ansar" feature published today.
There's nothing earth shattering in the feature. He thinks Bertuzzi will get a look or two with the Red Wings and maybe a shot to stick. Since Nosek is out of waiver eligibility, he believes Nosek is most likely to win a job. On Coreau, Khan doesn't believe he'll be selected in the expansion draft. Obviously, his future will depend on whether the Wings move Petr Mrazek or Jimmy Howard.
Of note, Coreau will be 26 in November and Nosek will be 25 in September. So these guys aren't exactly spring chickens. But that didn't stop Nick Jensen from pushing past Alexey Marchenko and Ryan Sproul to win a job this year on the Red Wings' trainwreck defense.
