Former Wings Prospect Mattias Janmark Scores His First NHL Goal

 10/09/2015 - 10:04

Mattias Janmark, drafted 79th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2013, scored his first NHL goal in his NHL debut for the Dallas Stars Thursday night. Janmark, who was traded along with defenseman prospect Mattias Backman and a draft pick for Erik Cole, skated up the center ice and took a feed from Ales Hemsky (ye of many Red Wings trade rumors) and buried it behind Penguin goalie MA Fleury for a 1-0 lead.

Late in the game, the Stars lead 2-0 and Janmark is tied for the Stars' lead in shots (3), despite playing a little more than nine minutes. He's 3-for-10 on faceoffs.

Janmark is 22. He's one of three Swedish prospects traded by the Red Wings in the last two trade deadlines, along with Backman and Calle Jarnkrok.
